Vegetables

Some people say I am weird because I eat vegetables. In truth, I am not. Vegetables are an ordinary part of an everyday diet. Not every vegetable tastes good but vegetables are good for you. It also depends on how you serve them

Did you know that vegetables are an important source of nutrients including potassium, dietary fibers, folate, vitamin A and vitamin B. Diets full of potassium help maintain blood pressure.  So you should try some vegetables.

some vegetables I eat are Beans, Asparagus (which I do not like to eat but I eat anyway), Beets, Broccoli, Brussel sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Corn, Cucumber, Soybean, Edamame, Eggplant, and so on. These are only a few of the vegetables I eat. My cousin only eats meat which is kind of weird to me.

Food to Eat During Chinese New Year

There are six Chinese foods that are considered lucky if you eat them.

The first food is fish. If you eat fish, it is said to increase your prosperity because the Chinese way of saying fish sounds like “surplus.” Chinese people like to have a surplus at the end of the year because they think if they save something at the end of the year, then they can make more in the next year.

The second lucky food is dumplings. Dumplings are said to increase wealth. It is said that dumplings are made to look like Chinese silver ingots (boat-shaped instead of bar-shaped).  It is said that the more dumplings you eat, the more wealthy you will be.

Tang yuan is mochi balls filled with black sesame. Tang yuan is said to bring families closer together. The pronunciation and round shape of Tang yuan stand for reunion and being together.

Longevity noodles are said to stand for longevity and happiness because of its name.

Niangao is also lucky because the Chinese way of saying Niangao sounds like getting higher year after year by year.

Tangerine, Oranges and Pomoloes are good luck. The Chinese for orange and tangerine is chéng, which sounds the same as the Chinese for ‘success’. One of the ways of writing tangerine jú contains the Chinese character for luck.

Hmsbrennanl’s Introductory Post

Hello,

Food is an everyday need but so many people are picky, so I would like to write about food I ate and food others should try. I am going to write about this because I like a lot of different foods and lots of people from other countries don’t have food. I eat some foods that others don’t eat like Brussel sprouts and Nato, so I want to show and tell others how it tastes.
